CONTEST RULES
DEADLINE FOR ALL CONTEST ENTRY SUBMISSIONS IS MIDNIGHT (EST) ON AUGUST 26, 2019. Contest closes at Midnight (EST) on August 26, 2019 and submissions will not be accepted after that deadline.
Contest Entry Fee: $20 Per Entry.
Choose your beat for the rap contest from the two official options (“FLAMEZ” or “WRECK”) and click on the SELECT THIS BEAT button; then check out to pay the contest entry fee and get your beat download link.
You’ll get a secure link in your email to download the beat. Keep track of this email - you’ll need your Order Confirmation ID Number that is in the email when you submit your rap track to the contest!
Don't see the email in your INBOX? Check your SPAM folder. Make sure your ACCOUNT SETTINGS allow you to get email from info@laidlawmedia.com. Give it 1 hour to arrive, then CONTACT US if you still have not seen your order confirmation email appear in your INBOX or SPAM folders.
IMPORTANT! Once you download your beat file, the secure download link will only remain active for another 24-hours after that first download, so be sure to save and back up your beat file!

Multiple competition entry submissions from the same MC are allowed, but each submission requires a separate entry with its own unique Order Confirmation ID Number to enter. For example: If you want to enter two different versions of a track on “WRECK” then you’ll need to enter the contest and pay the entry fee twice, selecting “WRECK” as your beat each time.

Entering this contest and using one the official beats for your contest entry does not grant any rights or privileges of licensing or ownership, or any other additional usage rights to you for that beat. You cannot profit off of the contest entry beats.

Configa & John Vietnam
The last time Configa hosted a rap contest on his beats was back in 2012, seven long years ago. The winner of that superb competition was a then-unknown, phenomenally talented, intelligent, compassionate, and wise beyond his years young rapper and B-Boy named John Vietnam. Tragically, JVN perished just a few short weeks later while saving someone else’s life and the world, his generation, lost an important voice.
John’s words and music live on FOREVER in part because of the work he and Configa were blessed to create in the short time they had. JVN features on two gorgeous songs, “Need Wisdom” and “Be Like That”, on Configa’s 2017 album “Configaration Volume 1” (Configa’s first release on Chuck D’s SLAMjamz Records); and Configa was also deeply honored to work on John’s posthumous debut album, “Emergence”, which was released in 2018.
Since John Vietnam’s untimely passing, Configa has become friends with JVN’s wonderful father Joe, who spearheaded the release of “Emergence” and who, together with John’s family, curates JVN’s legacy of music, poetry, video, and art. Likewise, Joe and John’s family have become invaluable friends and supporters of Configa and the Configaration Records/Laidlaw Media Family.
In honor of his son, and in homage to the 2012 Configa competition that put JVN’s shining star on the indie hip-hop map, Joe is gifting each of this year’s three top finalists in Configa’s Birthday Beat Competition with a free copy of John Vietnam’s “Emergence” on top of their other winnings! Both contest runners up will receive a free download card for the album, and the Grand Prize winner will receive a free download card plus a limited edition release CD of JVN’s debut album, mailed to the ultimate winner by Joe himself!
